I just got 5 chicks from My Pet Chicken. 4 of them where peeping and had some water and feed. They where perfectly fine. One of them hardly opened her eyes and couldn't stand or walk. 8 hours later, after dipping her beak in the water to let her drink, and keeping her warm, she is opening up her eyes more but without food, I think she is getting weaker. Now she wont make those attempts. She just clapses. She won't eat regular food so I'm wondering if letting her drink something with nutriants, like juice, would help.
Please let her live

Do you have any Save-A-Chick vitamin/electrolyte mix for the water or did you get any GroGel with the chicks? Put some water into a small amount of food to make a tin paste and dip her beak into it. You can make electrolyte solution with a pinch of salt and a teaspoonful of sugar in a quart of water. If you have salt substitute that will add potassium. Gatorade or pedialyte if you can get some would also work. Keep dipping her beak into the water. Make sure the others are drinking, and be careful not overheat them since that would cause more dehydration.

Many times chicks get stressed from shipping--too cold, too hot, just not that healthy to start with--so that most hatcheries will include an extra chick or two in case of looses which can be common in the first week. I am hopping you can get this little chick to make it, but it sounds like you are doing all you can.

this morning i gave her some of the sugar and salt water that you sugested. i saw her kicking her feet a bunch. i just gave some "save a chick" stuff in the water. should i seperate her from the rest of the chicks? she seems ok now but im not consantly watching. she is also limp and her eyes are almost always closed again.

It sounds like you might have to separate her her if she gets trampled by the others, if you have another heat source, food and water source. If not just leave her in there, but offer the save a chick water often (dip her beak in it)

I had a sick chick before. I gave her water with an eye dropper and kept dipping her beak in some strawberry yogurt. Kept it up for about 4 days and she started to eat yogurt and drink on her own if I held it for her. After the end of the week she was up and running by her self. Was still dizzy (stumbled around) for some time but healthy and made a full recovery and is a normal chicken today.
