Sick Chicken!

This is Cooks, names for her crooked beak.
At first I thought she was going through a molt, but her feathers have never come back. Then this morning I found her in the run, unable to stand and I immediately took her inside. None of my other chickens have patches of feathers lost and from my, inexperienced, eyes it doesn’t look like mites.

I’m not sure what else to do. She is not attempting to stand in the crate or drink any water I’ve provided.

For reference, she is approximately 2.5-3 years old.

Welcome to the site. I’m so sorry she isn’t feeling well. How is she doing right now?

To me it appears she has been picked on severely. She has blood and peck marks around her comb/face. And her feathers are tattered and broken off in many places. Separate her immediately if you haven’t already and provide food/water. How is her crop? Flat?

She may have been kept from food and water and is weak from that currently. It is critical you get her to drink, preferably electrolytes with a pinch of honey or sugar. Something like Gatorade would do the trick right now or you can look up homemade electrolyte recipes if you have none. To get her interested gently dip her beak in or dribble a little on the crevice where her upper/lower beak meet.

You should wet some chicken feed down into a mash for her with some water and see if she will eat that. Most think it’s a treat.

Check around her vent for mites. I cannot tell if she just has some dirt in her feathers or mites, the pics are a tich blurry. But you will be able to see mites around the vent better than anywhere else.

Being kept from food or beaten/pecked into submission may be taking a huge toll on her confidence and she may not have the will to eat or drink. How long ago did you find her like this? I hope she comes around for you.
