Hello!

I need some help helping my favorite hen. She is about 18 months old. The night before last I went out to close up the coop and she was in the nesting box with egg yolk all over her. No shell in sight. The next day I went to check on her and she was very subdued. Since then, she has been mostly inactive and is isolating under the coop. I have only been able to get her to take very small amounts of wet food and/or water.

I have given her a couple warm soaks with epsom salt and light massage. I’ve oiled her vent. I have no idea what the problem is or how to help. She is quiet, not making distress sounds. She mostly just stands, but when she does walk slowly, she doesn’t appear to have a waddle. She is not holding her tail down. Any ideas? I’m worried about her. :(

Do you have any pictures of her?what does her poop look like?
I’ve got her inside. She’s wet and puffed up a little because of it. She really just stands there. So sad.

I haven’t seen poop. She has a little bit this morning. It was normal color but thin and not much, more than a teaspoon, less than a tablespoon.
Open her beak and place it in her mouth, you can break it in half if you want.
i gave her one tums. She spit it, so I broke it into smaller pieces. She spit it. So I crushed it and mixed it with west food and she ate a little. Probably a third or so. Any ideas what may be wrong with her?

If the yolk is from a broken egg she could be having internal issues, including an infection.

It sounds like you're supporting her well. I hope she improves soon. Others may have more advice for things to try.

So, her tail IS tucked down. Or maybe it’s like that because she is sleeping while standing?

She hasn’t moved from this position for over an hour…
Do you have any calcium citrate
She could be egg bound but she looks sick. Why is she wet?

Here’s a pic of her poop. She’s wet because I soaked her in rosin bath just in case she’s egg bound.
