I am completely new to raising chickens. I have a Buff Orpington hen who is about 17 weeks. Yesterday she was laying on the ground and trying to fit under the hanging watering can. She kept moving around from side to side and her feet were curled up tight. She kept itching at herself, it seemed like towards her rear. Her feathers kept ruffling. She did this for 20 minutes or longer. She seemed to be breathing very rapidly. A whille later she seemed ok and got up and was walking around. I thought she was just getting ready to lay her first egg. She didn't make any noise. Then this morning my kids said she threw up, and when I went to look there was some liquid that looked to be pretty clear. Maybe a teaspoon or so. Is this normal or is she sick? Any help would be great.
you have to wear disinfected skin-tight gloves and...well...reach in and dislodge it carefully.
