My chicken is about 1 year and four monrhs old. Three nights ago I noticed a change in her behavior and immediately started doing research. She is sluggish, lays down alot, won't eat or drink unless I force her, has not layed an egg in 3 days, she is very quiet, her poop is slimy looking, and her pee smells very off. The only thing I can get her to eat on her own is live bugs. I assumed she was egg bound so I have been giving her warm Epson salt baths and calcium tablets. After 3 days still no change. This morning I examined her and I did not feel an egg up her vent but then again I've never done this before. If anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it. I'm at a loos on what to do.

Can you take her to a vet maybe or at least call them and see what he/she has to say?
To prevent this in the future, always be feeding layer-never grower or starter (which has no calcium) and always have out supplement calcium in a pan for them. I hope all turns out well, good luck!

I have an update and hopefully some useful info for others. Apparently my hen has coccidiosis. It presents itself to appear to be egg bound but it is not. I've learned it is important to first inspect your hen and if there is no egg inside this parasite is most likely the cause. It can be treated and prevented with Corid. I am giving my one hen a preventive dose and the hen that has symptoms the treatment dose. So far the sick hen is hanging in there.

You should give the whole flock corid. It won't hurt them if they don't have it but will save their lives if they do

Apparently. I only have two hens in my flock, so both are getting taken care of.
