PLEASE HELP!! My girl Liza is acting different today. Slow, small steps, almost limping, then sits. Not moving around a lot. She has moved around to get food and water, but is generally inactive and appears uncomfortable. I noticed black tar like diarrhea on her feathers, not sure if that was her or someone pooped on her.
Egg bound?? Crop? I'm new at this please help!
She is a 14 month old leghorn.
I don't feel an egg, I gave her Epsom salt bath anyway.
Large squishy crop like balloon. I saw that it was huge last night, but I dont know if it went down over night because my son let them out in the morning. Noticed later this morning when I let them out of the run that she had no interest, then noticed her constant sitting and little steps.
So I gave her some water with ACV, no food for an hour or two, massaged crop. She took a massive, hard, relatively normal looking poo. Then gave her some yogurt with olive oil, she had another large poo, more watery. Comb went pale both times before bowel movements. Now she is napping, I could see her body clenching on and off, tail up and cloaca pulsing....
I currently have her in a dog crate in my living room with me, just the bottom part of the crate for now, no top, with shavings and she is laying down pecking at her yogurt...
Vet said they might be able to fit her in tomorrow.
What can I do? What do you think is wrong?
She's usually nervous, but has been inactive and letting us handle her and cuddle :/
Update: another large poop, still sleeping lots and inactive. I felt internally for an egg but didn't feel anything. Her crop feels twice as big as our other leghorn outside still...
