Hello all
One of our Isa browns (2 years old) is very lethargic. We brought her to the garage to isolate her yesterday (July 3). I thought she could be egg bound. I gave her an epsom soak twice yesterday and twice today so far. She did not lay any egg yesterday nor today. She’s not drinking water on her own nor eating. I’ve been giving her electrolyte water through a syringe but she won’t take much. She’s just sleeping all the time and hardly moving.I applied some coconut oil in her vent and she had a bowel movement yesterday and today after the coconut oil application. Today’s bowel movement was very stinky and runny. The only thing that we changed recently was introducing 4 new chickens that are isolated under their coop. The other chickens in the flock are all well and no other chicken is showing any signs of illness. What else can I do? Thank you all

Hi again, sorry about your hen.

Do you have other chickens her age all acting normal?

I would give her a human's Calcium pill, whole, or grind up a couple of Tums and put it in a small amt of scrambled eggs or yogurt so she eats it all. That will cause contractions so if she's egg-bound she should be able to lay it.

Hi Debbie
The other chickens of her breed and same age are all well.
Husband is going to the store right now to get some calcium pills. Thank you
