I've had chickens for several years, and I've never dealt with anything like this. One of my hens when I went to check her, her vent was completely crusted over. I have been soaking her in epsom salt everyday for the last 5 days. It seems to get a little better but just not heal. And it smells very bad. She had normal poop the first few days but now it's kind of watery. I have tried vetericyn, blue coat and hydrocortisone antibiotic cream on it. Do not know what the cause of it is any ideas. Noticed today her comb seems to be a little granulated as well. Sorry for graphic pictures!

Her vent could have been pecked by other chickens, or she could have suffered a prolapsed that may have been pecked or resolved on it’s own. The soaks are good, and it looks like you are getting the crusts off of it. Where are you located ( state or country?) Has it been hot or cold recently? Nustock cream might be good for applying twice a day. That is cream made from sulfur powder and pine oil, in a mineral oil base, so you can make your own. I would sustitute menthol or ben gay for the pine oil. It works as an antifingal healing cream. She also could be suffering from vent gleet. That is usually a fungal infection similar to a yeast/candida infection that can cause constant running poops which excoriate the vent area. It apparently smells bad as well. Thank you, I am in Midwest Illinois. It has been cold here, but that past few days were in the upper 40's - low 50. I do get the crust off every morning, and then it bleeds.
