I have a chicken that is not acting right. She is all fluffed up and her wings are droopy. Her comb isn't as bright as it should be. She has no visible signs of illness other than some poop on her but feathers. Her butt however is not pasted up. What should I do for her? Is there anything I can do at this point? I know when they start to show signs of illness they are usually to far gone :(

How old is she and has she started laying eggs yet?

She'll be a year in march and yes. She's been laying since August. I did just watch her eat the scraps of bread I there out this morning. So she's eating some at least.

Ok. 7 month-old Silver Spangled Hamburg was looking like this about 2 weeks ago, except her tail was droopy. I figured out that she was eggbound. I put her in a tub of warm water for about 20-25 minutes, and she finally managed to pass the egg. If you want to know if she is eggbound, feel around her vent for a bump. That's the best I can offer. Sorry I'm not much help.

Thanks! It could be a very real possibility. I will do this first thing am as they are all roosting now.
