Sick chicken? Won't eat but wants to?

I checked her crop that first day and I thought it was empty and thought she was thin because I was feeling her breast bone in a weird spot. Well turns out she had an apple stem in her crop! She's fine today.

Ack!! An apple stem? And she had you so worried. Sheesh. I wish it was always that simple.

I'm amazed at how many times I've had a sick chicken, acting strangely, not eating... only to find out it's a minor crop issue. I really think people should check the crops of their chickens right away when anything is wrong.

I ended up giving her bread soaked in mineral oil. She's fine now. She was acting so zombie like and not eating but wanting to... I thought for sure she would be laying dead in the morning.
