Hello everyone. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted because all has been going great. I have a sick hen and need some of your expert advice.
18 month black Australope, who is part of a small flock of 9 hens. They have lots of space and are out in a large ,fenced off run each day.
she has has a bare spot on the base of her tail feathers and I think shes been bullied just a bit. She isnt the lowest hen in the pecking order but seems to have been picked on lately. She has done fairly well and didn’t show too many signs of a larger problem. She’s been eating well and we presume laying as we are getting 6-7 eggs daily. The problem started Monday afternoon. About two hours before the normal roost time I went out and she was up on the roost by herself. I though maybe she was just getting away from The others and getting her spot Early without having to fight for it. The next day, she stayed up on the roost and was very sluggish and wouldn’t eat. We took, her out and put her in our brooder cage in the garage. She has drank lots but will not eat and will not get off the roost. My wife dI’d get her to eat a bit of hard boiled egg and some yogurt but very little. She has been drinking. No eggs for a few days. We can’t feel an egg In her.
Of yes, also on the first day in isolation she had a bit of a large spongy crop. my wife massaged it and she threw up lots of stuff. Now she hasn’t eaten since but she still has a bit of an enlarged crop a bit but she threw up so much stuff yesterday and hasn’t eaten .
She has been pooping a few times but it is very runny and has no normal look. I posted a pic. Tonight , we mixed Some electrolytes into her water but she just sits or stands on the roost and doesnt move or eat. Any ideas other than time.
