Hi there, my chicken has been sick for the last week. Not eating, drinking a lot. She won't eat her normal food but will eat ham and scrambled eggs. But even today she does not seem that interested. The vet gave me Fluvital, totalin and Toltranil. But she is still losing weight. We have been force feeding her, she eats it but just won't eat by herself. She has a really red comb and constantly shakes her head when she eats, yellow and foamy poo. After looking online, I saw people posting about gapeworm, but we have found no evidence of this,we have looked down her throat but dont see anything, not sure how else to look for signs. We have also given her diatomaceous earth. Can anyone maybe give any other suggestions. I have no idea how to proceed further. Thanks for any help given.

How old is she and can you tell us if her crop is empty or full, hard, doughy, or puffy? DE really doesn’t do anything given orally when it becomes wet. I don’t even use it period, but I understand some use it to help prevent mites or lice in a coop where permethrin is not available. I am not familiar with Toltalin, but the Fluvital and Toltranil can treat worms and coccidiosis. How are you giving those? Besides shaking her head, does she have any eye or nasal drainage? Does she lay eggs? I would make sure that she is drinking, and offer a little wet feed and egg.

She is about 2 years old. Her crop is yellow and foamy, slightly better when I force feed her, which I hate. I gave her Toltranil in her water as the vet suggested and Fluvital in her food. She has no eye or nasal drainage. And she hasnt laid an egg in about 2 weeks. Her sickness really came out of nowhere. I have two chickens and the other has no signs of any illness even though I have kept them together the whole time.
