hi our 2 year old hen is looking quite sick. she has lost a bit of weight i can feel some of her bones on her lower side. her comb is pale and shrunk. she now just lays down all day and doesn’t seem to get up and move. all of our chickens have stopped laying eggs due to the heat right now but the other three girls started laying about three days ago and she has not. last night she did not get up on the roost and just lied underneath the other girls which she has never done. i’m not sure what is wrong i kind of pushed her so i could see if something was up with her walk and she just flopped over. we put her in a kennel inside with AC, food and pedilyte. We have her a small dose of antibiotics left over from a previous chicken emergency that we gave her. also put a warm compress and valesline around her vent incase it was an egg related issue. i hand fed her some strawberries and she ate them very fast but won’t seem to eat on her own. About a week ago i noticed she was losing weight but thought it was due to heat. now i’m worries she is sick: any advice???

Can you please take photos of her poop and of her?

Feel her abdomen below the vent between her legs for bloat or fluid. Check to see that her crop is emptying overnight and look her over for lice/mites.

The heat may be taking its tole, but she may also have something else going on. Reproductive disorders can be quite common in laying hens, so this is something to consider. Getting a fecal float to see if worms are part of the problem is also a good idea.

I'd keep her relatively cool, work on hydration and once she's drinking see if she will eat some of her normal food.

hi! so i checked her crop and it feels full and soft so it may be an impacted crop. she hasn’t eaten anything and i don’t see much poop, then again i’m not sure what is hers since just a few days ago we had a broody hen in the kennel and I am not completely sure which is who’s

feeling her crop it feels large for the morning but still very soft. I did not feel any bloating around her underside either and no sign of mites

Her crop looks fairly large.

Do let her eat/drink during the day. Take the food/water out tonight when it's time for her to go to sleep. Re-check her crop before you give her food/water.
If it's not empty/flat, then begin treating her crop according to the article below.

Are you still giving antibiotics? If so, dose and product, how much longer will she be on them?

Getting a fecal float to see if worms are part of the issue a good idea too.

Thanks so much we will definitely do that and if the crop is still large tomorrow then we will try that and if it comes down to it we will take her to a vet.
We will not be giving her any more antibiotics right now just incase
