One of my blue Australorps is acting strangely. The other 5 are doing what chickens do…scratching, digging, wandering… but my blue was just standing in one spot not doing anything. Her tail feathers are pointing down, instead of the usual up, she just stands still. I picked her up and checked her over and she seems fine, just not her usual talkative, friendly self. She is still where I left her 20 minutes ago on top of their ”condo” which is a little shed we built inside of their run, except now she is spitting down like when she’s on the roost for the night. Anyideas? Thanks

What is her age, and normal feed routine including treats and supplements? Is she laying and if so when was the last egg?

Have you had the chance to check her crop for function? Is it squishy full with water, flat, or have something hard inside? See if this article helps..

She is 9 months old. She has not laid today, but did yesterday. Her crop feels normal. I picked up some poultry cell and CORID at TSC and gave her the appropriate dosage according to her weight. I also bought her in the house in a crate to keep an eye on her. I will reintroduce her in a couple of days, but that may change the pecking order. She seems to be doing better now. She did eat a very small amount of feed.
