We have a chicken that my daughter noticed was very calm last night and didn't move much at bedtime. She called it sweet. This morning she was worried because the chicken came out of the run and wasn't moving much. Walking slowly and standing still lot. She went and laid by a tree and my daughter is worried. She is 7 mo old and started laying 2-3 weeks ago.
We set a crate up in the garage and a diy electrolyte mix. I started by giving her some Greek yogurt and chicken and she did eat. We checked and don't think she is egg bound. We feel no hardness and she laid an egg yesterday and symptoms seemed to start last night.
She is mostly staying still, standing. She did lay down at one point. I then thought to withhold food in case it is sour crop. But we didn't feel anything and she doesn't have a weird smelling break or breath, so I gave her some more chicken and strawberry. I got her to drink some with a dropper.
Any thoughts? No symptoms in other birds. Born in early Aug, new layer. Olive eggers. I'll attach a vide to see her panting and pics of her morning poops. The liquid one is the last one. She has done a few like that since I took the picture.
Update: she died very suddenly. We have no idea why. I'm guessing her heart? She was such a sweetheart and died while I was giving her electrolytes via a syringe. Just flapped a wing and fell over sideways and died.
