My hen has a very poopy bum. Color looks off although I have put diarrhea in search bar and found a post with a link to pics of variety of normal poop and the color being normal is debatable. Thoughts? Solutions?

It could be vent Gleet. Does it smell really bad?

Check her crop to make sure it flat in the morning before eating or drinking. Rule out sour crop or impacted crop.

Has she been dewormed with safeguard?

How old is your hen?

Is the poop yellow looking? It looks that way in the picture. Can you post a picture of her poop?

8 1/2 months old. I am a first time chicken owner and when I called store I bought them from yesterday they said I didn't have to worm. I will if people on here think I should. I trust you guys more. This hen passed away and the pic is her bum prior to burying :'(

People keep saying she was probably egg bound but this yellow slime doesn't sit well with me. I didn't notice any particular odor. My 8 year old daughter thought she stank but I attributed that to 12 ish hours post mortem.

Another chicken died yesterday and had no yellow slime and given that the 2nd one was 3-4 years old I am hoping it was an age thing but I am fearful for the rest of my babies who are only 8 1/2 months. I called vet and they wouldn't dispense anything. They said I could send for autopsy. Results in a week but my flock of 7 could be dead by then. A friend had Aqua Terra so I started them on that cause I had nothing else and I don't know what to do. I am scared for my babies. I am in Canada and I don't know if meds are harder to come by here.

Meds are hard to come by here in Canada. Only thing we can buy is what the feed store carries. Unfortunately you don't really know what your dealing with. It could be anything. She may of had a broken egg inside her as she was young and coming into lay. The yellow looking could be from the broken egg with diahrea and that and she became infected. It can kill them fast.

You should treat all your birds for worms, get Safeguard horse paste at the local feed store not what the feed store caries for chickens. It only treats round worm. Then re-treat in 10 days. Don't eat the eggs until 14 days after last treatment seems to what everybody goes by.
