Hi everyone. I started out with one chicken getting sick and always laying on its side and not walking around. I had to have it put down. I had another chicken that started doing the same thing and they put her on antibiotics and she’s better now she can walk around, but she still leans a little bit to the side. Unfortunately, I started noticing one of my smaller fluffy chickens started laying around. I got no diagnosis for them. They just gave them antibiotics. Have any idea what it could be what I should do

Do they look any different apart from behaviour? Do they have purple or bluish combs? Strange poop? Any pictures would help, how long has your chicken been on antibiotics?

There’s nothing different looking about them at all. Their combs are fine. There’s a little bit of poo stuck to the Rhode Island red butt, but I wash that off. The Rhode Island has been on antibiotics for 10 days. She still a little slower than the other ones and has a little bit of a limp, but like I said, I started seeing it in my fluffy chicken. My other three Rhode Island reds are fine and run great and my other fluffy is doing great. The chicken that I had put down was a Bantam the first one sick

Hmm then I don’t know, maybe someone more experienced will tune in, did you start the fluffy one on antibiotics? Sounds like antibiotics are doing the trick anyway

Welcome to the site. Sorry to hear about your chickens getting ill and losing one. Do they have any other signs of illness such as discharge from the eyes, ears or nose? When they get ill do they lose function of their legs or do they become less active and that’s why they lay around? Have you tried calling and asking your vet what the diagnosis was?

Why are you treating with antis if you don’t know what you’re treating? Sounds like it could be Mareks
