So I have a run with about 25 chickens, they have all been raised together. I have one chicken that is constantly shaking it's head, sometimes opens its mouth and today she sneezed. I don't see all of them doing this but I had a baby chick brooder beside the run and now some of the baby chicks-they are about 18 weeks old are shaking thier heads as well. I'm putting vet rx in thier water.started apple cider vinagear today as well in other water.I also applied it to the big chicken but over all she is still laying and eating and drinking, she's not slowed down at all. Same for the baby chicks. Should I be concerned? Anything else I can be doing?? It's been going on about a week. Our temps here in NC have been up and down and we even had snow but thier coop is sealed and dry, run is pretty clean, I rake it about every other day. Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.

The bottom floor is hardware cloth, other than that its pretty sealed up besides doors to get in and out and then they have thier run

Chicks do shake their heads some, and can sneeze occasionally if dust or feed particles get into their nostrils. How is the coop ventilation? Is a hardware cloth floor warm enough for your chickens in winter?

I think the ventilation is fine and the floor, most of the chickens seem healthy and happy, we live on the coast so it's not gotten too bad tempature wise but thanks for that about the shaking

Look for any bubbles or foam in one eye, eyelid swelling, and continuous sneezing or gasping throughout the day. If there is only an occasional sneeze, and they look active, they probably don’t need anything. If any other above symptoms happen let us know. Did your chicks come from a hatchery, feed store, breeder, or did you hatch them? The chances of a respiratory disease such as MG or bronchitis would be more likely. If they came from another farm or eggs were hatched. MG is one disease the spreads through hatching eggs as well as exposure to other birds who may be carriers. So far, you may be just dealing with something environmental irritating the nostrils.

Thank you so much for the information

The one in the coop came from tractor supply

I do have one or two in cage next to them that I hatched that is shaking it's head but no sneezing or anything else, overall they are healthy, active. I think I'm more worried about the seriousness of it and is it contagious being it started with the one and now some of the baby chicks. Our weather has been up and down and all the over the place. We live at the beach so it generally stays a bit warmer but in the past couple of weeks we have had some cold temps and even snow but now we are back in the 70s. Not sure if that affects chickens if it even does.
