Sick chicks

I keep the feed sealed. the waterer leaked and there was mold under it. I stirred up the ground to dry and mixed in an absorber hopefully all good from here.

I am happy for you, that your chicks are better!

Droopy wing is often considered a, "I don't feel good," sign. The symptoms you mentioned could also be related to that mold you mentioned. It is a really good idea to keep mold, fungus, compost pile and other toxins, etc away from your pet chickens.

Good luck!

Nope, no pasty butt.

Sooooo, i think i figured out part of the problem. This whole time im like "yes, i feeding chick starter feed" Well today I went to the feed store and got a new bag b/c we ran out of the other. When I got home I noticed the bags were 2 different colors. The bag of feed I had been feeding was 'Layer Feed' and it was crumbled and looked just like starter feed. I had to go outta town the next day and sent my hubby to get the starter. I guess the feed store gave him the wrong feed. He wouldnt know any different. The bag went straight to the sealed container, so I never saw the bag and it looks just like starter crumble. I never saw the bag til today when i pulled it out of the container. 2nd time I have gotten wrong feed from them, def must double check!

Make sure the chickies don't have access to layer feed. The extra calcium in it can give them permanant kidney damage.

Unfortunately the 'Layer Feed' was disguised as 'chick starter' soooo.... they got 50lbs of it.. i guess on the good side the adults helped them eat it, bad side, they got it for the first 10 weeks of their life ........
