sick duck

Weezie (her name now) is better! the wheezing and rattling is almost gone! Thank you Jesus for your healling powers. She has been walking about and "cleaning" the edges of the rooms and around stuff. She has been out of the cage almost all day and her appitite is some better. She hadn't eaten in several days. She would pick at it and spit it out, like her throat was sore or something.
Just wanted you to know she's better. If the weather holds I plan to let her outside for a bit tomorrow.

Update on Weezie: I had the door open and her two nestmates came and got her. They walked her to the "watering hole" and she dug around in the mud some.
She is very unstable on her feet and falls quite often. They were apparently helping to steady her.
At any rate, the drake saw her and immediately topped her. She was totally helpless. She managed to break free and when she saw me she came to me and hid in my lap.
I took her back in, let her bathe in the sink and she is now wandering about the house.
The wobble and stagger is somewhat bothering me.
Wonder if it is from the antibiotics? Any ideas?
I have had her on Cephalexin for 7 days. Tetracycline for 3 before that.

hope she is well now. she might have blocked nostriles. one of my ducklings was always getting sick and hurt he was the runt if the litter so to speak. anyways when he started having a breathing problem i used to suck through his nose and i sucked out a hair and some other large cloged sickly looking mucuse thing. anyways i stoped feeding him wet food and he would automaticaly not drink to much water. it took him a week to recover from the breathing problem. doesnt hurt to try.. and yes i cleaned his cage 4-6 times a day/night and had him out in the fresh air almost all day. it was alot of comitment. and was so worth it untill i lost him to a snake. miss him

Weezie has been outside with the other ducks for 3 full days now. She is walking really good now, just has some incidents of falling when she makes turns. And she can't get out of her watering hole alone, yet..... Other than that, she is doing great! Thanks for all your help and suggestions. I changed her from Tetracycline (when 3 days into it there was no improvement) and placed her on Keflex for 7 days.... I think the dose may have been too high, but it's difficult to determine just how much they will drink in a day and so the dose couldn't be set in stone.... at any rate, she is much improved and I have closed down the Duck ICU for the moment and have my kitchen back!
