It's currently summer in Australia, and where I live is having a bit of a heat wave. 4 days ago, 3 ducklings hatched under a broody mother duck, and after a while past she left the nest, as they do. Then, this morning, after 2 days being in the high 30s and today being in the 40s, another duckling hatched. She could've hatched yesterday or this morning, I really wouldn't know, but either way, it was hot. I found her after the mum left her nest, which she had started sitting on again, and saw her totally immobile. Her mother was sitting on her in already very high temperatures, so my mind immediately went to heatstroke. She ws still breathing, just, so I gave her a bit of water and took her into air-conditioned room. She started regaining her strength, but is now shaking, so I'm thinking I shouldn't have moved her and she is now cold.
