Sick/Dying Chicken????

Been a while since I read it, my best advice is to read the Wikipedia page for Marek's. You can buy chicks from hatcheries and have them vaccinated for the disease. I'm pretty sure its a virus, but I can't remember, its late for me. I know that the small price you pay when buying the chicks to have it done is worth the cost.

There you go, there are a few articles out there I'd you look up Marek's disease chickens but this is the first one that pops up.

Sorry for your troubles. It sure sounds like Mereks and is spread by dander. It stays on farm for years and is a virus. Some chickens can form immunity so you may not lose your whole flock. Some flocks have immunity. I do buy vaccinated chicks from the hatchery which doesn't keep them from getting Mereks but keeps them from expressing it in the form of cancer. There are some very good threads on this forum that explain it much better than I can. You can look up the threads in this forum's seach engine.

Again, I know this is heartwrenching, but this too will pass.
