Sick Flicker woodpecker

Any suggestions? I really want him to get better.

He is acting very lethargic and tired and keep shaking his head. He has a heat lamp to keep him warm, but I don’t really know what to do at this point. Someone please help…

Stop with the heat lamp; he's feathered out and doesn't need it. His lethargy may be a result of being overheated.

I thought because of AI (avian influenza) we are supposed to leave wild birds alone. And usually if you see a fledgeling bird you think has been abandoned, the parents are somewhere near and will come and feed it if you leave it alone. I think the best thing you can do is turn it over to a wildlife rehabber, who does know what to do for it.

Most do come back.
There is a small baby bird that was just screaming a few weeks ago. I kept a eye out for it. Put food out so it was easier. Definitely fell out of the tree during a storm.
Its now flying and healthy. Just saw it 2 - 3 days ago.

A animal rehab is the best option

Sounds like neurological issues, these birds sadly almost always die within 72 hours. Could be something like west Nile or encephalitis virus or some sort of pesticide/herbicide exposure. Not anything you could have done but also little health risk to you (mosquito borne viruses).
