Hello I have a 1 year old Buff Orphington. She recently got broody about a month ago. She was still active, eating and drinking but for the last week she’s been in a small tent in my room and I’ve been taking care of her. At first she would let me feed her and give her water, but now she doesn’t seem to want to eat or drink anymore. I’ve been giving her vitamins and putting electrolytes in her water for a couple days, but nothing seems to be working. I don’t understand what I’ve been doing wrong, and it just upsets me cause she’s only 1 years old.

I'm sorry your girl is having trouble. Is she still broody? What feed is she getting? How are her poops looking? Are you also offering plain water so she can flush any excess vitamins?

This is her feed below. She doesn’t really act broody anymore she’s just has very low energy and sleepy. Her eyes also seem kinda cloudy and there always shut so I give her eye drops to keep them moisturized. Yes I do giver her pain water. Her poops are kinda slimy more in the green side and it’s just like tiny chunks.

Maybe try some Nutridrench and taking her outside to get some sun and see the flock? Did you bring her inside because she was broody or because she was starting to act off?

Both I took her inside cause she started to seem off and wouldn’t eat or drink on her own, and I was doing research supposedly if you take a hen out of the coop for a couple days it gets rid of the broodynes. I have taken her outside, but what I realized she wabbles a lot and walks in circles so she acts loopy and always off balance

I'm sure others would know better what might be wrong, but if she was mine I'd start 1/4 tablet of a b complex vitamin and a vitamin E (400iu) for a week or two and see if maybe she depleted her vitamin levels when she was broody.

Hopefully someone else will jump in too! I just didn't want to leave you with zero ideas.

I agree that I would start some human vitamin B complex crushed into food or a spoonful of water. E is fine too, usually about 400 IU daily. Do you have any pictures of her and her eyes? Could she have been injured? Is her tail held up or down? I also would take her back outside, but spend time with her in case she is bullied. That may be the case is she has been out of the flock or broody for a long time. A wire dog crate with food and water is a good way to keep her safe while staying within her flock. Scrambled egg, just a little, and wet chicken feed can sometimes be good to offer to coax her to eat. Green poops can be a sign of not eating.

Thank you for that. Hopefully I kinda lost hope because she is not looking good at all and she can’t even keep her balance and she lost her appetite I have no idea what to do and I feel so bad just seeing her like that not knowing what to do
