Price is probably about right for a female since they are more in demand.

That's very sweet he at least has you and the dog for companionship for now but I bet if you bring home a female he will be one happy boy. He knows what its like to have one of his own now.

Glad he is eating. My goose didn't eat for three days after the gander was eaten. She just wandered around saying oink oink.

You can spend as much time as you want with your gander, and when the new lady shows up, he will still quickly attach to her. I have a few ganders who are quite imprinted on me, but I've not had any problems getting them to wean off of me for a new goose.

As for price, 50lbs (approx. $75 US dollars) is high for our area, but adult females are at a premium in the spring. Also, if you planned to get babies, you can let gander raise babies and he will pick his favorite female from the group and mate with her once she is old enough.

Either way, I'm glad you and your gander are getting through this together.
