One of my female guinea started acting a little lethargic 2 days ago. Her waddles look fine but she just sits around and walks real slow. Went up on the roost in the coop yesterday, but when I locked them up tonight all the others were up in the roosts but she was still laying on the floor. I kept her locked up in the coop today (she could still see the others and many of the other guinea came over to visit). I have a screen door with hardware cloth on the coop door. I put Duramycin-10 in the water in the coop for her. Anyone have any suggestions? I am afraid I will have a dead guinea soon.

Check to see if she is egg bound/ has a messy vent etc. If she was egg bound, and the egg burst then she could have a nasty infection (egg yolk peritonitis).

Have you ever wormed your flock? Could she have eaten something toxic while free ranging? (Just tossing out some guesses, it could be a million different things

)

I'd make sure she's hydrated and eating enough... and maybe even keep her warm at night.

Good luck, hope you don't lose her.

Sick guinea died today. Yesterday I thought she was getting better, but when I opened the coop up this morning she was dead. She was drinking water with the Duramycin-10 in it. But her legs were getting weaker and she could no longer stand. Vent looked fine, I could not see anything wrong. It's a shame because she had a mate and now he is looking everywhere for her.

Sorry for your loss Tom, mystery illnesses/deaths are a bummer. Hope the rest of your flock stays well, and that the lonesome male adjusts.
