Sick Hamster!!

I found out my hamster, Smoky, has a respiratory infection and we aren't willing to spend money on a vet or expensive antibiotics. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a natural remedy I could use to treat his sickness?
I'm not sure exactly how old he is, but he's at least a few months. So far I've been giving him thyme water. Thanks everyone!

A "natural" remedy may make you feel better but it won't help your hamster. Antibiotics are not necessarily expensive. You can go to the feed store and get some powdered terramycin and put it in the water. That said, I have no idea what medicines will work on a hamster, but I can't imagine that the terramycin would hurt.
