I have a 46 week old EE (?) who has one eye open and one eye closed. I noticed this yesterday. Yesterday she was able to open the eye. Now today is keeping it mostly closed and I can see some dried up crust. She also has a sort of bump on her beak. Today I went out to give the clock some raisins and she was just sitting in the run one of her feet are curling in . I'm pretty sure she can't move. She did try to Peck at the other hen that was trying to get her raisin and she was eating them fine . None of the other hens seem to be picking on her . Last night she could walk though I did notice she had an unusual gait and struggled a bit to get on the perch. This hen also has not laid in a few weeks . I have three other hens who are perfectly fine. I have her inside now with some water and food.

I would get some human vitamin B complex tablets and crush 1/2 tablet in some scrambled egg or a spoonful of water, and give her daily for a couple of weeks. Can you also use a warm wet washcloth to clean her eye and face? Look for any debris or dirt in the eye, and any eye bubbles. Plain Neosporin ointment from the store, or Terramycin from a feed store can be applied to her eye twice a day. Have you ever had any birds who had symptoms of Mareks disease? Was she vaccinated?

She is the only one with symptoms. In fact, she has had some weird breathing in the past but got better. Husband swears she hasn't laid in months. We have two blue green egg layers so not sure how he could possibly know that. I was thinking of Mareks but aren't birds bought at TSC vaccinated?
