I have a 1 year old lemon brahma hen. About two months ago she started laying eggs only once a week but now shes stopped laying completely and her crop is swollen with no feathers on. it feels like liquid. she drinks water and eats food although she has lost weight. Her muck was just a watery clear liquid but now its still runny but alot more poo within it. shes lively and alert enough. and she sometimes stands with her mouth open especially if shes been running. could this be sour crop?

Hi, The hen is still with us. I gave them a bowl of grit in there pen and also added mixed corn to there diet along side layers pallets. I researched as to why she was eating feathers and i fount out it was lack of protein during molting season, so i gave them abit of cat meat everyday for week and she started laying again. Thank you.
