Good morning. I am newly joined to this site, though I have been learning from this community for years. We've had 25 chickens at our most for 10 years. With Mother Nature, we've experienced loss, illness and have found balance with wisdom and companionship.

I am here today for a new case that I cannot find solution. This hen is older, I am prepared for the inevitable. She is a 6 year old sunset star, Fireball. Fireball is a larger breed chicken. She has had crop issues most her life with it being so low. Sour crop is most prevalent.

Currently, Fireball has been sick for a week now. She is lethargic, bunched up, not eating nor drinking. The most noticeable thing with this illness is wavering neck movements followed by air bubbles. The bubbles smell of sour crop. They can be heard coming forth without neck movement. She moves her neck when the bubbles come up.

There is no mucus in eyes nor beak. The crop is empty though squishy on the right bottom side. I have found that the crop seems to be distended. Droppings are runny white with small green solids.

I have been treating her by massaging her crop and withholding solid foods. I've been giving her .5 inches of monistat on cooked egg 2x daily with 1cc of slippery elm powder mixed with water once daily for 3 days.

Any information of illness and treatment is greatly appreciated. Thank you all, DustyFoot
