I just give them good veggies like zucchini, garlic, pumpkin, carrots, bell peppers, jalapenos and cayenne which have natural deworming properties that paralyzes parasites and flushes them out. A lot of the time I blend those veggies and more all together for a healthy treat for the girls. Actual deworming medicine is probably more potent and effective, but I do this a lot and my chickens are worm-free and happy!
I understand; it’s just that those veggies help support a healthy biodome and gut bacteria but they do not deworm... if your chickens are worm free that’s great but just be aware that natural remedies don’t actually deworm and so very little to prevent. Even the pumpkin seed myth has been debunked. Parasites have adapted and need actual dewormer if there is a problem. I just don’t want anyone to get comfortable with these methods and think that they are fool proof. My husband just gave her a thorough check over. He said her crop felt fine, she didn't have any breathing difficulties, no bad smells, but he did notice a few mice/lice under her wing. We dusted all the girls with pestene as well as their laying box area. I will clean out the coop in the morning. Its raining here and will be for the next 3 days very heavily so will do my best!
