I noticed on Sunday she was keeping her distance from the flock, this morning when I opened the door she was still sitting on the roost, but when I came home from work she was in a corner in the run while everyone else was free-ranging. Got her out & she pooped the attached pic. I don’t see anything in it unusual besides it’s runny. Almost reminds me of the yolk of an egg. Could she have had an egg crack inside of her? And if so, how do I help? Or is it something else. I’m trying to catch her to quarantine her, but it’s easier said than done with chickens that are a tad to independent!!!

How old is she, and has she been laying normal eggs recently? The picture is not clear, but it could be something related to a broken egg or impacted oviduct problems. Does she eat layer feed, and does she have access to crushed oyster shell for extra calcium? I might be tempted to place her in a dog crate with food and water, and keep her with her flock to monitor her poops, eggs, and see how much she is eating. You may also want to feel inside her vent an inch or two for any stuck eggs or remnants of an egg or membrane.

One of mine had similar behavior and poops. She was almost dead one morning, so
I carried her up to the house and held her in my lap to give her a good send off. She was barely breathing, eyes closed, and then she pooped a runny mess in my lap. I took her outside and heard a plop. An egg was laying on the ground. She immediately perked up and got better over the next few days. Her poops looked great, but she continued to hang around the front door. I wondered if the problem was still with her and she wanted to be close. Sure enough she got in a bad way again, but never improved, She died today. I'm so glad it's over.

Sorry for your loss.

She’s about 1-1/2 years & has been laying normally up to know. I did separate her in a crate, so I’ll know if she’s not laying by tomorrow. I soaked her in warm Epsom salts & did feel around, but didn’t notice anything. Gave her vitamin water & a scrambled egg for supper & put to bed. She’s in the garage overnight, but I’ll put her back outside in the morning when I let the rest out for the day. She ate most of the egg & has drank quite a bit already. So I’ll see where we’re at in the morning!

So sorry, I know sometimes it’s hard to know what to do as you’re not sure what’s wrong. Wish they could talk at times!

Mine actually had something similar last year and got over it. Everything I read led me to believe she was internal laying, and that there was nothing I could do. I figured she was a goner, but as fall set in she got better and lived for another year as a normal chicken (as far as I could tell). I think something was congenitally wrong with her. This time I did the warm baths, calcium drops, pampered meals, probing for obstructions, but nothing worked. I think it was just her time. So glad she's not suffering anymore.
