I was just out at the chicken coop and noticed my 3 year old Isa Brown sitting there with droopy wings and looking terrible. She's been laying well but the shells have been really thin despite free access to oyster shell, good feed and full day free range. Could one have broken inside of her? Yesterday she was acting fine but was in and out of the nesting box and I never did get an egg. I don't think she is egg-bound. When I was feeling her little body today she feels puffy, like she is filled with air?! I gave her some direct feed poultry drench and left her in the coop with the doors all open so she could get some fresh air, but now I'm wondering if it would be better to put her somewhere dark? This is our families favorite hen and it would be devastating to loose her, Please any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated.
