I have a two year old hen that just started wheezing, coughing acts like it has bronchitis. is there anything I can do? Does anyone have any idea what it might be ?

Welcome to BYC. Respiratory diseases that affect chickens can cause a variety of symptoms. Diseases may be caused by virus, bacteria, or fungus. A discription of all symptoms can point to one or another. Swelling around eyes wih drainage, coughing and wheezing may be MG or infectious coryza. Infectious bronchitis may only cause sneezing and clear thin nasal drainage. ILT may cause severe coughing, gaping, nasal mucus, and blood-tinged mucus from the beak. Coryza can cause wheezing, thick nasal drainage, pus and swelling in eyes, and a bad odor. Fungal diseases can cause silent gasping and difficulty breathing. Bacterial diseases such as MG can respond to Tylan 50 injectable given orally or by injection. Dosage is 0.2 ml per pound twice day for 5 days. If it is a virus such as ILT or IB, it will have to run it's course over several weeks. Most diseases will make flocks carriers for life.
