I rescued an older girl back in january following a hawk/cat/something attack and got her healthy again, quarantined her and integrated her with my 3 (at the time) pullets in mid february. All has been great and she has been the top hen then on friday she began seeming very lethargic. She has been having watery white poop all weekend and occasionally standing in place with one or both eyes closed. I have put a few drops of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of water for her and given her 1 tbspn of plain yogurt daily but when i got home today there was some on the feathers near her vent.

Does anybody have any idea as to what this? or Has anybody else had something like this occur?
if so how did you treat it?

she is drinking still and ate some fruit off a few strawberry tops but does not seem too interested in her food

I recommend that you stop the ACV, yogurt, and fruits and get her started on Corid 9.6% liquid solution. Dosage is 9.5cc's per gallon of water for 5-7 days. Make it fresh daily and put it in her waterer.
Feed her layer feed only. You can add some of the corid/water mixture in her feed to make a mash for her to eat.

thank you for the feedback i have never seen this before. do you know what it could be?

shes acting fairly normal again now still a bit slow but shes out in the yard (alone time).

Does this look like it could be the start of vent gleet?

is it possible for them to just feel sick/have diarrhea without it being a life or death matter?

Im stumped..she was just out in the yard for a couple hours scratching around and eating her layer feed (i crushed up the pellets for her) from a bowl

Have you given her corid? If so, give it time to do its job.
stopped with the yogurt and ACV and have corid getting delivered tomorrow.

Was going to start her on it on thursday but should I now wait since she seems to be acting better? or still go ahead and start her on it?

The sooner you get her started on it, the better. Corid isnt an antibiotic, it's a thiamine blocker so no need to worry about tossing eggs.
BTW, has she laid any eggs for you?

Thursday it is unless i put it in her water tomorrow night..She has not laid as of yet but she is an older girl I am just unsure of her exact age as she was a rescue
