Hello everyone. Looking for ideas. I have a hen a Light Brahmas. She is about 9 mos. old About two weeks ago she just started standing around not eating. So I went to the internet. Once suggestion was sour crop. So I checked her crop and yes it was full. So I waiting a day to see if it would go down itself an kept an eye on her poop. After two days I went back to the internet and seen to hold food an massage the crop and give fresh water. She would not drink the water so used an eye dropper to administer several times a day as well as have fresh water available. Continued to massage the crop couple times a day. After about a week the crop went from grainy to solid mush. But still just as big. So during this time I also gave her electrolytes and probiotics with eye dropper. She would not eat. So I started nutri drench. Nothing. At about two weeks I found a you tube where someone recommended garlic water for three days and then probiotic and electrolytes. Sure enough the second day the crop emptied. So I offered diluted garlic water an she would not touch. She still would not eat so I tried some meal worm in her garlic water and she ate them. I gave her small portions for two days and then only seen small amount of white stool with some brown dropping. This is what I was getting all along. I also forgot to mention I was giving her monostatin for yeast because her breath became horrible. After her crop went down her breath improved but not alot of stool like I expected. Now she is standing around again and her stomach has gotten swollen as well as her butt around her vent, vent looks good no redness or pus/mucus. I am concerned she is constipated or perhaps egg bound. She has not laid an egg for at least three weeks. I have been giving her warm epson salt baths every 6-8 hours. I have given her mineral oil for possible constipation. I have given her oyster shell water for possible egg bound. She is standing today with head tucked and when I massage her belly she acts like she wants to bare down but only white liquid comes out. Help what more can I do. I hate to see her survive sour crop just to die of constipation or egg bound. The poop sample has a little blood but this was taken after checked her for egg bound, did not feel anything but also did not go in far. I also put mineral oil around her vent to lubricate for easier delivery in hopes that she does. Help any ideas???

I wish we had one around here. Our local vet seen my Rooster a few months back an concluded it was genetic an had no answers. He said most people would put them in a pot once they become lame. Charged me $93 for that advice. My rooster is still with me, still lame but doing well otherwise.

Well I really hope you do NOT put him in a pot. I do not know what to tell you, but I hope he gets better. :fl
