Sick hen?

So I was with my 10 month old Ameraucana and I kind of danced around with her while holding her in the air. I then brought her to eat some mealworms because I felt bad for dancing around with her. She wouldn’t eat any but she took one and just held it in her beak and she also won’t stand so I put her back with her flock and she hasn’t moved from where I put her and other hens are walking on top of her. This was all about 5 minutes ago but I read a post about a young hen with similar symptoms who shortly passed away. Her name is cluck and I should mention that we live in Texas and have them inside in a shower because of the freezing temperatures.

i dance with my chicken all the time! i’m not an expert on these things but i’m sure someone will help! i would check on her poop, see if she wants to eat or drink, maybe check her crop too, i hope someone answers you and i hope everything turns out okay

She was fine just a few minutes before so maybe she is just tired? I’ll check on her agoin in the morning

Oh goodness, I’m so sorry. I have no idea what happened unless you could gave tipped her forward to cause her to aspirate, in which case she’d probably be gasping and coughing, or if maybe she had a heart attack? You could always send her chilled (not frozen) body in my necropsy if you really want to know.

Her breathing was labored and her beak was open but other than that there weren’t any signs of distress. I just don’t understand it because she was fine less than five minutes before

I’m sorry. I had a chicken die of fatty liver hemorrhage once. I think the fact that she died after dancing was a coincidence, assuming you didn’t shake her violently or anything. I envision you happily gliding around with her. So sorry.

i’m sorry for your loss, i dont think it was because of you dancing with her, chickens fly and jump all the time and produce more movement, again i’m sorry for your loss
