Hello, I'm new to this forum but I need help quickly. It may be too late. My hen has been acting funny for a few weeks now, but she has eaten only what she really wanted. I took her away from her coop mates and put her by herself in my house and then out in the yard by herself. The problem is now is that I found her tonight when I was locking up laying down like she was dead. I though she was dead. But when I grab her up. Her eyes opened. Since then I have forced feed her vitamine water but she is always laying down and sometimes she'll jerk and open her eyes and move a little but not standing up at all. She's laying on her side. Do you know what I can do for her or what could be wrong with her. Her poop is a little runny dark brown color.

check her crop for lump or grainy feeling..
check for odor.

what all do you feed?

any wheezing?

has she been wormed?
is she thin?

list any symptoms you notice.

liquid Sulmet 12.5%

this poor hen is very sick.
always better to act quickly as soon as you notice anything.

best to bring her in if possible..or put somewhere warm and safe with soft bedding.
good idea for electrolytes and probiotic..tho extra protein does enhance cocci.
the others might attack her and she is unable to defend herself.
may have already been attacked and is in shock..electrolytes help that.
post back with reply to questions..she might need a booster mix..
and a different med.

are you able to take a fecal sample to a vet for worm/protozoa test(sometimes called fecal float)?
