I have a four day old brown leghorn that doesn't look right to me. She is smaller than the other two of her breed. She just sits there peeping softly to herself. Her wings are drooped and she seems to be by herself most of the time. We had poopy butt yesterday but that was taken care of and has not returned. Her vent was not blocked by it. I saw her drink and she will run around with the rest of them if they are startled. She just seems lethargic. I saw her try to put her head under another chick's wing. It was pathetic. The other chicks are fine and thriving. Is this possibly failure to thrive?
I am preparing myself to lose her but I don't want to give up yet. Could offering her some mashed yolk help or some sugar water? I want to give her as much of a chance as I can.
