I have a-week-old baby chick. She's falling over and can't get up. She will kick her legs but still can't manage to get up right. Other than that she's walking around just find a little wobbly on the balance. I'm not sure if she's drinking water. I have seen her eating though. This morning she was laying on her side, and very chilly. Good thing I got to the brooder box in time. I'm bringing her temperature up with the microwave beanbag. And I plan on feeding her water through an eyedropper very soon. I had her separated from the rest of the little flock. With another little teeny tiny one so she's not lonely. I would love to save her. I'm not sure if I can help her. if you have any other suggestions please let me know

Welcome to BYC!! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

So sorry about your little chicky! Sounds like you have a good plan about giving her water through the dropper and warming her up. Warmth and water are the most important things right now. Consider putting some unpasteurized, organic apple cider vinegar in her water to boost her immunity and overall health. I've attached some links too. You may want to ask about her here where you'll likely get more responses. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures.

Best wishes!!!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Sometimes you can save them with vitamins. Especially the B's , E and Selenium. If you have any Rooster Booster you can put in the water, this may help him greatly. Even some pedialyte will help too.

You might also post this in our emergency section or the raising chicks section for more help with the little guy. Mountain Peeps has left you with the links to both of these.

I hope he pulls thru.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about your chick, you've gotten some good suggestions/links above, hope she recovers.

You can get some polyvisol infant drops (NO IRON) and give her 2 drops 3x times per day. It seems to boost the weak ones. The drops are usually in the pharmacy or baby section - Walmart, other drug stores etc. A bit of sugar in the water may entice your little ones to drink. Dehydration can weaken any baby to the point where they can barely stand, etc.

Please keep us updated on them - we really like to know how things are going and always hope for good outcomes.

Sounds like you need some heat and make sure out s/he some water and if you have some hard boiled egg's try one a day for a week with the vitamin B-3 protein and niacin in the egg it should help out greatly .......

I took everyone's wonderful advice. Thank you so much for that. Sweet little patiences now Peccan bugs in paradise. We tried, she tried. But to no avail. What can I say? When God wants his fuzzy chickadee back. He gets her

Oh, I am so sorry you lost her. She is resting in the arms of the Creator now. I hope your heavy heart can heal soon.
