Sick mother hen

I went to check on my brooding hen this afternoon and discovered a cute fluffy little chick. It may have hatched last night or early this morning. Unfortunately my hen seems to be sick. Messing all over the nest and remaining eggs. I am worried the new little one will get sick too. Should I remove it?

Messing all over the nest and remaining eggs. I am worried the new little one will get sick too. Should I remove it?

Hens do not look after themselves when broody.Keep an eye on hen,DO NOT wash/wipe eggs,chick should be fine,mom should start to clean herself.

Thank you for your quick response! Washng the eggs was my next step. I am so anxious to get in there and clean up.
