I have a 10 month old Polish that has acted completely normal until yesterday until I noticed head shaking last night. And she was roosting too early. Full crop yesterday. I thought Wryneck so started the standard treatment. Now not walking-keeps ruffling feathers and tail down. Keeps standing on one foot and trying to stretch the opposite foot- those toes are curled. Or just sits down. Will eat some. Drinking normally. I’ve started vitamins and Gatorade. She doesn’t appear egg bound- I’m not sure she’s ever laid. Poo looks normal. No other sick girls. Any thoughts? What am I missing?
I will add that in the last 2 years I’ve had one Silkie and one Polish with weird neurological symptoms. The Polish that died over the summer was bought with my current hen that is sick. Eventually neither could walk. Both had different presentations. The vet thought the Silkie looked like Mareks but they didn’t think the Polish had Mareks. The Polish couldn’t raise her body and both legs were fixed straight out in front and spastic. My vet had never seen it. I Tried everything including several vet visits. Autopsy at A&M yielded no insight and they were negative for Mareks. These girls were both vaccinated for Mareks- I have some unvaccinated Silkies which is why I really don’t think this is Mareks. But it’s something!!
They eat high quality food. Only fresh people food. No access to chemicals or toxins that I can see. Her weight is good.
Thanks so much.
Edit- they have organic layer feed with unlimited access...I meant I give them only fresh people food and not spoiled or rotten food.
