Sick pullet..help!

Buffy, my buff Brahma pullet about 6 months old has pale comb, dehydrated and very thin. I noticed that she was droopy yesterday afternoon. I didn't realize that she was so thin until I picked her up. Her gorgeous feathers hid her thin body. When I set her inside the coop she ate and drank. Today she has shown no change. Crop seemed empty, no discharges. No diarrhea. Rectal exam ok, poop looked normal. Tonight I put her in a cage away from the others, gave her Vet-Rx Poultry Remedy and put Gatorade in her water.

What else can I do for her? What could it be?

How hot is it where you live? If it is hot she might have heat stress, get her in the A/C.
Also she could have an overload of lice/mites, check her over for EXternal bugs.
Isolate, give electroytes, and give her all the food she wants. Eggs, mealworms, fruits.vegs....
There is also the possibility of worms....one thing at a time.....

I really don't know what this is, but just like froggiesheins said, maybe you can try to worm(include Cocci) her as a start. Good luck!

It has been hot and humid here. She's doesn't have lice or mites. Will worm her today and put a buffet with her. I moved her to a cooler place in my horse barn. I have a fan running but not directly on her. Will this be ok, or do I need to bring her indoors? Thanks for the info.

Hi, if it does work, then fine, if not, then I think maybe you can check whether she has cocci. Only several diseases exhibit the symptom of dehydration, and Cocci is one of them. Maybe you can do some google on this.

Personaly I would bring her inside where it is cool.....THEN you can rule out heat stress,
There are alot of things that cause pale comb, weight loss, listlesness, start simple.
You wormed her / 1st item done.
Get her in the house where it is cool for at least 24/48 hrs / 2nd item done.
NO external bugs / 3rd item done.
Give her tons of food / 4th item done.

Now you wait to see what happens.......24/48 should tell you if this is working.

IF IT IS NOT, THEN look deeper into what other things it could be.....

Maybe she is low man on the pecking order and not getting at her food?????

Yeah, it's really irresistable!

I've found that chickens do love sweet or acid things, such as yogurt, tomatos, grapes, strawberry...

And maybe it can boost their immunity system greatly if we add some milk powder in their food and poly vi sol in water.

We have fresh grapes on the vine that I can give her. I got some yogurt, but no poly vi sol. Would Lixotinic do? It's a vitamin and mineral supplement for animals, but is it okay for poultry?

Grapes aren't going to provide her much protein...but, if she will eat them, go for it. Make sure you at least chop them in half. Chickens, including my own, have choked on whole grapes.
