Sick Pullet? Slowly Gasping or choking?

Got chicken diagnosed. Not gape worm. Apparently not a problem in this area. Needed some med for $1.50. Chicken should be fine. Simple fix! Yah!!

My husband took her. Typical man didn't ask a lot a questions. "It's respiratory. She needs this and will be fine. It was $1.50. Also btw gape worms not really a problem in this area." That's all the info he had. His thinking: Needed diagnosis and med. Got it. Problem solved.

My thinking: I want details!! Oh well.... I did get the dishes and a load of laundry done while he was gone with the 8 yo.....

And that right there is why my husband is not in charge of health issues for anyone. Including himself.

Iheartnh: hubby belly laughed at your response ....... I think he identifies...... LOL

Gave the chicken the med orally about lunch time. ALREADY seems to be getting better! She is not opening her beak wide anymore - only a little and not very often. I did look on the bag and "vermectin" was written. She is running around with the others still so hopefully it has been caught in time and will be limited to her.

Added note: we also went ahead and gave her VetRx yesterday. Anyway, she is much better today. We did have someone tell us that if they swallow a slug that the slime can bother them a lot and that could be what we are seeing. If it didn't improve he said we could put a couple of drops of apple cider vinegar down her throat and that would cut the slime if that was her problem. Good to remember for future reference.
