sick pullet?

The stuff I ended up getting was liquid. It was the cheapest. It won't be here for another 3-5 days though... So far I have not found anywhere local that has it.
Not sure what I should be doing in the mean time. Will the Tylan help at all until I can get the Corid?

Should I keep her away from the other chickens? Plan tonight is to keep her inside in a crate by herself. She is sitting on a towel in the living room, pooping on that. But has not moved at all today on her own. I almost forget she is there she is so quiet.

LeCoop,

Are you in a position to get some Corid? I first noticed the symptoms in the evening. The next day she just sat there and would not follow the girls out. She was warm but she was still puffing her feathers and mostly keeping her eyes closed.

The next day I got a swift education on coccidiois and made a beeline to the local coop...round trip 50 some miles, but I'd have done farther if I had to. Each bird is a big investment of time and care and money. Not about to let one go so easily.

She was limp and so thin in my hands. Very docile. I prepared the Corid 9.5% to the specs I sent you and it took about three days of persistence with her with the Corid water and the dropper. By the third day she seemed back to her feisty self.

So it sounds like you need to act swiftly. All the best.

BTW...the whole coop's poops improved in appearance when I treated them all. They got 5 1/2 days.

What is your location? Perhaps there is someone in your area who has it at home that can let you use some.

I am in Castle Rock, Colorado. I don't know too many people with chickens. I might have to do some more investigating tomorrow and calling around. Seems so common so it seems more stores would carry it?? I am going to call some other feed stores tomorrow. Thanks so much for all your suggestions. All your symptoms are almost exactly what she is doing. Very limp in my hands tonight and even laid on her side for about 20 seconds before righting herself. :(

LeCoop,

I really hate to say this, but tomorrow could be too late if it is coccidiosis. She is such a lovely pullet. I would hate to lose her.

Corid is sold for cows, really....so if you know anyone with cows, now would be a good time to call them.

I have a feeling you are right. I don't know anyone with cows. We are just outside of Denver, so pretty suburban. Shoot. I put a request out in the community forum on craigslist. We shall see what anyone says. Thanks so much!!

Go back a page for the dosage instuctions for the 9.6% Corid. There are two links there to verify that if you need. ChickensAreSweet and Dawg53 helped me save my baby girl and crew.

"Need help with Corid Doage" is the thread where they helped me. There are different instructions in there from Dawg53 if you get your hands on some 20% from a cow farmer/rancher somewhere.

But I would try A/B's if that's all you have. I just can't 'do nothing'! Encourage the drinking with the eye dropper at her beak as much and as long as you can. She is dehydrated from wet-pooping.

I have tried, several times in the last two hours. Now she does not even want to swallow the water. So then I worry it is going to the lungs. She just seems to keep getting worse. So upsetting.

My heart is with you. I love my little babies like you do. Did you say you had some antibiotics? This is just a stab in the dark. Apple Cider Vinegar, two tablespoons to the gallon...in the dropper.
