sick pullet?

I have a few replies for stores from the craigslist add. But no reply with someone that has it. Do I do that here on this topic? I have Tylan, which I have been giving her (in the water I have been giving her) since about 2 this afternoon. But in total I think she has probably had 60mls of that water. She is not interested and like I said in the last hour has stopped swallowing when I drop some in her mouth.

You're going to need to treat all the chickens if this is coccidiosis. If you are concerned about keeping your own location semi-private I can play between if you like and just put out the bulletin in BYC.

Oh no, I was not worried about that. I just did not get to fill out the profile stuff since I jumped on here with this first worry.
I can post something.
I only have one other chicken that is with her. My other 5 are kept in a different area and do not have free range of the yard. Should I treat them too?

Thanks to all of you for the help. I have learned so much and found a new place to hang out!
I just checked on her again, last time was about 30 mins. ago. She passed on her own. :( My poor 8 year old daughter is taking it hard. I am too, but this was her baby. So sad.
Thanks again so much for all your help! Especially to Chickabee!!

Just to be sure, I would treat them all. Using the Corid, there is no withdrawal period and if they don't have it, it won't hurt them and if they do, it could save their lives.

I'm so sorry for you and your daughter's loss

FYI..do not give antibiotics for Coccidiosis. It will do absolutely nothing to help and it just might do more damage since it is their intestines that are taking the hit.

Yes, LeadWolf1, thank-you. I did know that A/B's are not for coccidiosis. So sorry. I guess I was feeling desperate for the pullet and was thinking........just in case it was something else. But I would not want to pass on wrong info. (was still not 100% pos it was coccidiosis. But I guess the swiftness of her deterioration would indicate that?) Thank you for all your input for us newbies. It is a roller coaster ride with these babies.

Is there anything else we can do against coccidiosis when we can't get our hands on the Corid?

Well I kind of thought this was the way it was going to go. I am so sorry you lost her and pray your daughter would be comforted, too. How we love our birds.

There really isn't anything as good as Corid. In a pinch, you can use Sulmet but there is a good chance that it will not treat your chickens strain of Coccidiosis and it is much harder on their systems.

I have used some yogurt and/or a yogurt mash made with crumbles, water and yogurt and fed them that to try and get them through to the next day. Now, I don't ever let my supply of Corid run low. It is one of the things I make sure I keep at all times.

Again, so sorry for your loss and your little girl's loss. My 8 year old son lost his favorite pullet not long ago. He just ran across a picture of him holding her...it brought it all back and he was still sad. He was happy to have a picture of them together though. Losing a pet, no matter what it is, is very hard on all of us.
