Hi, i have a quail that is unwell, it is sort of hunched over/ neck shortend, sort of a bit wobbly and slow. I have moved it by itself with heat and food and water. And its been the same for a day or 2 now. It's not really eating and drinking alot and did some greeny white poos. Is there anything else I can do ? Or any cause?
Also my quail have just started laying! Yay! But some of their eggs look like the picture not formed correctly? Is this normal for a first egg? or do they need more calcium? Ive had a couple softish blue eggs too.
If needed what's best way to provide more calcium?

Oyster shell grit is the easiest way to get calcium into them. Try and get one for aviary birds as the stuff for chickens is generally too coarse for quail. It's always best to offer extra calcium as some birds need more than others.

A head injury is often the cause of a quail acting strangely. There isn't much you can do unless there are specific symptoms that point to an infection.

Thanks will find some small oyster grit. hmm, the quail doesnt seem to bet deteriorating and is still moving around and bit jumpy when i go to do stuff. I did think maybe its hit its head. It's the only Italian colour ive got :( so bit sad. If its an injury, will it recover? Or do they not do so well? It seems a tad better than when I found it.

I got a photo to show its neck/head position. Sort of cant extend it. It's actually started eating abit more this afternoon. Which is a positive and did a normal poop.
I think give it a week or so to see if it recovers enough to càrry out normal behaviour.
I did have a thought if its some kind of wry neck? But looking at pictures doesnt seem like it.

He looks normal to me? I had a button quail with wry neck and he'd drag his head on the ground and flip over. He got over it though.. thankfully.

This one is probly the most flightly quail i have so most likely jumped into something, but just had a thought if wry neck could show this way, but havnt found anything like it. It's head stays tucked in like that like its stiff. It is better than it was. Its 6 weeks old today

They are incredibly tough birds so even if she doesn't fully recover she will cope. As long as she is eating and drinking normally.
