hey all,
Long time lurker and first time post.

I have 6 hens, all 8 months old or so. Yesterday I noticed one laying on the floor of the coop sleeping in the middle of the day. Changed the food and water and figured I’d see how today went. Not good. SUPER lethargic and barely reacts when I handle her. When i checked this afternoon she was outside the coop laying on the ground/snow. Something is obviously wrong. Sometimes I will pick her up and she won’t even wake up, or will close her eyes almost immediately.
I have her in the house in a makeshift coop. I added a bit of honey to the water for additional pick-me-up if she does drink it. I was able to get her to take about 5 sips earlier but nothing since.

She seems a little thinner than the others. Her comb has developed a purple tint in the last few hours. As far as I can tell she isn’t egg bound. Unsure of her poop color since I just recently separated her. She hasn’t gone since, though, and it’s been several hours.

It has been super cold her lately... a week straight under 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

The rest of the flock seems fine, but i plan to completely clean the coop tomorrow, just in case.

I’m not super optimistic given that she does seem to be improving at all, but figured I’d throw it out to the group to see what you all think.

Thanks in advance.

I have herd that the purple comb means she has poor circulation. Stuff wrong with the heart and such...
Also I had a similar thing happen to my hen this summer before she died. It turned out that she had very bad worms, and possibly had an infection in her blood from a bad wound. I could tell that something was up through because whenever I picked her up she was extremely thin where you could feel the sharp outline of the breastbone. i know mites can drop birds too. I would check to see if she has any parasites and sterilize the coop (in case it was something infectious) other than that keep her warm and comfortable and give her sugar water and things like that along with high protein foods and hope for the best. I hope she pulls though.

I found one of my hens yesterday laying and almost frozen on the ground. I'm assuming it's some sort of hypothermia as it's 30 below here. She was very lathargic and could not stand, or hold her head up. I brought her inside with a heat pad and syringed her water and spoon fed her Greek yogurt. Today she is doing much better. This hen tends to be picked on by the others so I'm assuming they wouldn't let her cozy up with them and she got too cold.

Not much better this morning. She pooped a little but it was just caked on her feathers. Cleaned that up and Checked again for an egg, nothing. Hoping to get to the feed store this afternoon and get some supplies to see if we can turn her around. Poor thing

Any and all input is appreciated.
