I have an old game rooster who is very sick. I had to remove him from my coop because my younger rooster beat him up pretty badly. We've been keeping him in a dog kennel until we can get another coop built but letting him out occasionally. He was healing from his battle wounds and doing good until yesterday. Now, he is very lethargic and can't stand on his own. He just lays on his side and sleeps. He does raise his head and look around when he's not sleeping. The flies are so bad right now and they won't leave him alone. To try to protect him from the flies/mites/etc., I dusted him with Sevin because that was the only thing that I had on hand to use and our feed store had already closed by the time I got home from work. I managed to get him to drink a little and, my son said that he got him to eat a little yesterday evening. A few days ago, his food got wet and molded. As soon as I found it, I got rid of it but I do not know how much if any he ingested. I don't know if he has gotten sick from this or what is wrong with him. We do not have an avian vet in our area. He was my first chicken on my own and, I hate to see him suffering. Sam is an old man though. I have had him probably 6 years and don't know how long my parents had him before I got him. He was the only one to survive when my small flock got wiped out by raccoons/opossums. We thought he would live forever.
