Sick Silkie Very wobbly!

He cant eat anything right now. He is too weak. He will swallow the vit/elec I mixed up for him. I am using a syringe without the needle and dripping it into his mouth. He is trying bless his heart. I got the coops cleaned out and seven put down everywhere but did not get all the birds dusted today. But I did catch several from the coop he is in and none of them had very many lice/mites that I could see. And I know what to look for now, but I did not see many. I wonder why they would have gotten on him so badly. Maybe because he was already weak? I don't know. Will keep you updated.

I feel like I have lice now from dealing with him. Can I catch them from him? UGHH?

I'd sure try and get some protein in him..
vitamins, eggs, ..
Baby bird food from bird or pet shop would help him..
even canned cat food (beef)..or baby food.

try and make him up some mix..

this is for 1 day..divide into 3 feeds for the day.
regular layer feed available as usual.

1 cooked egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon honey or applesauce
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
3-4 tablespoons water soaked, or cooked oatmeal..
enough layer feed to make puffy..
put a dab in his mouth, and stroke his neck..see if he will swallow.

I wouldn't give up just yet..
you never know.

try and get some Poly-vi-sol liquid baby vitamins, Enfamil brand if possible, no iron..give 3 drops on beak (so it runs in his mouth) once a day for 4 days, then taper off for another week.

make sure he is kept hydrated..with diluted Pedialyte or packaged electrolyte powder from supply store.
drops on beak...

could you use a crop tube?

Well, he is doing some better. He is able to pick his head up and tries to get up but falls over. Still very weak I guess. I am putting him to the water with electrolytes and he can actually drink instead of me using the syringe. He is pecking at some food but I don't think he is actually getting any. So I am still feeding him. He keeps trying to get up and move but he flops over upside down and then cant get up. I sure hope I have not saved a bird who will have to be put down anyway. It just breaks my heart to do that. But if he cant fully recover, he will have to go. I just don't have the room or the time for a crippled bird. I know that sounds harsh, but is a reality. And to be honest, I was going to rehome him anyway, because he is white and the only white I have. Anyway, just an update.
